KAI'S MEMORY MILES: In 2020 a young man named Kai Harvey, from Rugeley, was sadly lost to Suicide. Kai was a much loved member of the community and he is missed every single day.
His family are now doing everything they can to raise awareness and as such are continuing with their annual memory walk which they've aptly named ... 'Kai's Memory Miles'.
The family hopes that this walk will not only keep Kai's memory alive but also help raise much-needed awareness about the importance of suicide prevention 🎗️
The walk is an open invite to anyone who wishes to join, whether it is to remember a loved one, help spread awareness and prevention or just show support.
📅 Saturday 11th October 2025
The walk will begin at the Mindfulness Garden in Brook Square, Rugeley, where participants are invited to gather from 11:00 AM. The walk will commence at 12:00 PM, taking participants through a route that holds significant meaning, to both Kai and his family and friends. The walk will pass through the town, along the Heritage Trail, up to Slitting Mill, and then The Horns pub. The walk will then continue past The Hart School, where Kai was a pupil, past the the Chase Pub, down Hagley Road, into Elmore Park, and finally concluding back at the Mindfulness Garden 🌳.
The route will be marked with teal-coloured ribbons, symbolizing suicide prevention 🎀, and members of SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) will be present along the way to provide support and to chat with anyone who feels they need to talk 🗣️. This walk is not only about raising awareness but also about fostering a supportive community for those who have been affected by suicide 🤝.
In addition to the walk, there will be refreshments, cakes, and music available at the Mindfulness Garden 🎶. This event is intended to be a comforting space where anyone who has been touched by this issue—what the Harvey family calls "the club that no one wants to belong to"—can come together, share their experiences, and find understanding and support 💬.
Whether you have been personally affected or simply want to show your support, all are welcome to join this vital cause which carries such a significant message for so many members of our community 💙.
